Whatsa happenin this week! 1/18/2010
I’m a day late with this but I have decided to comment on what’s happening around town this week. I consulted @stedman‘s Geek Nite Austin Calendar for this:
Tuesday: Austin Javascript
Tuesday (tonight) is your chance to get your var awesome; on. Alex Sexton of the yayQuery podcast will be talking on “Superclassy Inheritance with JavaScript” and Kyle Simpson of Getify+LABjs will be talking on “Web Performance and JavaScript UI Architecture”. Afterwards, rumor has it tradition is to go out and drink at the Draught House.

Wednesday: Austin ExpressionEngine/CodeIgniters
On Wednesday the aforementioned @stedman and a few others will be starting an Austin EE+CI group. As a framework-using PHP developer this appeals to me quite a bit. I’ll have to see if I can make it. Expect big things! I think CodeIgnitor author Thomas Myer will be there. Since it takes place at a $bar, I can assume while($meeting): $drinking = true; endwhile;

Thursday
The much anticipated forum with Martin Fowler was unfortunately cancelled. So how do you fill the void? Well, there are 2 concurrent iPhone Dev meetings on Thursday: CapMac iPhone SIG and CocoaCoder. I’ve heard good things about CocoaCoder and can’t vouch for CapMac, but I’ll let you decide. I won’t be going to these, because I like 30 Rock too much and I don’t even know Objective-C.
